The society serves all of Polk County, NC, and northern Spartanburg and Greenville counties, SC, a rural community of about 25,000 people. The society has 412 supporting members.
FHS is the only open-admission animal sheltering organization in this geographical area serving approximately 1,800 animals each year. The Foothills Humane Society’s vision is a community where there are No More Homeless Pets. FHS has a threefold mission to: (1) Prevent cruelty to animals; (2) Reunite lost animals with their owners, adopt animals to qualified homes or place them with reputable rescue organizations; and (3) Encourage responsible animal ownership and population control.
Foothills Humane Society strives to accomplish its mission by operating innovative and effective programs with the highest standards of care and humane treatment of people and animals, partnering with other organizations to maximize impact. The society’s priority is the humane and loving care of each animal.
