We provide a safe haven for our community equines!

FERA is the Foothills Equine Rescue and Assistance arm of Foothills Humane Society.  FERA works closely with the Polk County animal control officers and animal cruelty investigators to rescue neglected and abused equines in our area. When an equine is rescued by FERA, the animal receives an assessment by a veterinarian, begins a carefully supervised feeding program and is provided farrier and dental care if needed. The equine is then placed in foster care until healthy enough to be adopted by an approved applicant.

FERA also provides hay to owners struggling financially.  Through the generous support of our community, we have been able to build an emergency shelter for equines right at FHS. This allows equines to be removed quickly from unsafe conditions. We need your continued financial support to be able to provide this service and care to the equines and their owners in our community. For More information about FERA or to report Equine Neglect or Abuse  ~ Contact Patti Lovelace  at 828-817-3508 or email her at redoakfarmasb@windstream.net.
