Adoption

We cannot imagine our lives without our animals, and the joy, fun and unconditional love and loyalty they give us. They are our companions, our friends, our partners. We love them, and they give us SO much. We hope that FHS can be the “matchmaker” to help you find a loving, loyal partner. Want a new 'best friend'? Check out Our Animals

Lost or Found an Animal?

Lost and Found

Spay and Neuter Assistance Program

Where is your unplanned puppy now?

Millions of adoptable animals die every year in the United States because there are not enough people to care for them. The only way to prevent the cruel tragedy of hungry, fearful and abandoned animals is to spay or neuter YOUR pet. The call of nature is too strong for them to ignore, and it is your responsibility to keep your animal from adding to the problem by producing yet more unwanted, abandoned animals. Unfixed animals also stray, “mark their territory”, fight and have more medical problems, with resulting serious consequences.

Foothills’ offers several options to assist people needing financial help to spay or neuter their pets. Our Spay/Neuter Assistance Program is availalbe to residents of Polk County, NC and Landrum, Campobello and Gowansville, SC. Please contact the shelter for information about our Assistance Program. FHS also offers FREE Spay or Neuter Vouchers for all Pit Bulls and Pit Bulls mixes in our service area.

You may stop by the Shelter to get information and forms. Please bring your I.D. and proof of your address such as a utility bill.

Rabies and Micro-chip Clinics

FHS supports animal owners by sponsoring periodic clinics to provide low cost rabies, 5 in 1 vaccination shots (for Dogs Only) and microchip services at the Humane Society.

The charges are as follows :
RABIES Vaccination $10.00 (1 year or 3 year) must have proof of 1 year to receive 3
year shot.
DISTEMPER/PARVO Vaccination $8.00 (5 in 1) for dogs only
MICROCHIPS $12.00

Please check our Calendar of Events or call FHS for dates and times.

Feral Cat Problems?

Po' Kitties is a group of volunteers concerned about the welfare of feral cats in Polk and Upper Spartanburg Counties operating under the auspices of the Foothills Humane Society. The Po' Kitties Program works with you to trap, neuter and release feral cats, provide support for colony caretakers, and to socialize and adopt feral kittens. If you have a feral cat in your area or would be willing and able to sponsor a colony, give us a call at (828) 863-4444.
