Become a part of this dedicated group of volunteers who welcome animals into their home for a temporary period of time. Provide for orphaned kittens/puppies, nursing mothers, animals recovering from surgery, or those that need someone to spend time to train or socialize them. Interested in becoming a lifesaver?
Join the On The Road Adoption Team who take adoptable animals to off-site locations in order to encourage adoptions and increase community awareness of FHS. These events generally occur on weekends.
“Terrific Transporters” –
Many animals need transportation to a local vet, or even further afield to their new rescue home. Can you give them a lift?
Working the front desk from 12:30-1:30 on Tuesdays and/or Fridays! Answer phone calls, questions, interact with walk-ins etc. This hour allows the staff to work and train some of the dogs.
Pet Fix Program
Help with the feral cat TNR (trap/ neuter/ release) program.
A volunteer is needed every morning to wash food bowls, litter pans, laundry, stock cupboards; thus allowing staff to concentrate on kennel and cage cleaning.
Daily General Helper
Do you have a few hours one day of the week (or once every 2 weeks) to come to the shelter and help out in any way that we need you?
A truck is required! Pick up kitty litter/ dog food, etc., from local feed stores and deliver to the shelter.
Speak to and maintain displays at schools, community events, fundraisers etc.
