2026 Polk County Dog Commissioner Election

The Polk County Dog Commissioner Election is your chance to celebrate the dogs who make our community so special while supporting the animals of Foothills Humane Society!

Nominations are officially closed, and the race is on! Current Polk County Dog Commissioner Murphy is campaigning hard for reelection, while six other worthy candidates are hoping to unseat him and become Polk County’s next top dog.

Voting is open now, and every vote is just $1. Below, you can meet each of our candidates, read their stories and campaign platforms, and cast your votes for your favorite!

Every dollar raised through the Dog Commissioner Election benefits Foothills Humane Society. Your votes help provide food, medical care, enrichment, and everyday essentials for the animals in our care while helping them on their way to loving homes.

The candidate with the most votes will lead the Mutt Strutt Parade on October 24, be spotlighted in the community, and hold the honorary title of Polk County Dog Commissioner through Fall 2027.
